1970 Manitoulin Island ON Trade Token Swing Bridge

This  Trade Dollar or Token was issued on Manitoulin Island, Ontario in 1970  and was good for $1.00. It is the NICKEL SILVER. This trade dollar has the Swing Bridge at Little Current and a map of the Island. 

These trade dollars were the longest running of any Canadian Trade Dollar Series and were issued from 1969 to 2008. They are highly collected and are becoming difficult to obtain. They are very popular and many have also doubled in value over the last few years.  

Manitoulin Island is also the largest fresh water Island in the world and a great tourist resort in the summer. The Island is also known as Land of the Haw Berries and the people called Haw-Eaters.
